A note from a cosmetic dentist

For Years It Was a $20,000 Smile or a Cheap Plastic One.

So I designed the one in between.

Watch me compare a Revive set with a cheap generic one, side by side.

“I want to cry. I really do. I feel like I could go out and smile.”

I have sat across from people who cover their mouths when they laugh.

People who angle their face in every photo so their teeth do not show. People who have not smiled with their mouth open in years. Not because they do not want to, but because they learned it was safer not to.

They all want the same thing. To stop thinking about their teeth every time someone looks at them.

Then I tell them what porcelain veneers cost.

Ten to twenty thousand dollars. Healthy enamel drilled down permanently. A check most families cannot write. For the vast majority of people I see, it is not a real option.

So they go online. They find a snap-on set for two hundred to four hundred dollars. A few weeks later it arrives: one mold made for nobody, a thick plastic ridge where the gumline should be, every tooth identical.

Piano keys in a plastic tray.

Straight into a drawer.

I spent years watching that cycle. The details that make teeth look real, the contouring, the translucency, the individual proportions, can be built into a removable set if someone does the work. So I did.

But before I talk about mine, here are the five checks I would run before buying any snap-on set, from any company.

These are the things most buyers never think to ask. They are exactly what separates a set you wear from one you hide.

I am a cosmetic dentist, but I am not your dentist, and Revive is not dental treatment. I designed a product.

Was It Made From Your Impressions, or From a Stock Mold?

This is the single fastest way to tell if you are buying a real set or a costume piece.

Most cheap snap-on sets come from a stock mold. One shape. One size. Built to be close enough for everybody, which means built for nobody.

Your tooth spacing is different from anyone else's. So is your gumline. So is the way your upper and lower teeth meet when you close your mouth. None of that is standard.

A set that was not made from your actual teeth was made for someone else's mouth. And the moment you put it in, you feel it. Loose where it should be snug, tight where it should be comfortable, and it looks like exactly what it is.

What Revive does

Every Revive set is produced from your own at-home impressions. The kit ships to your door with upper and lower trays, two batches of putty so you have a second chance if the first is not perfect, a shade matching card, a prepaid return mailer, and a QR code to my video walking you through every step.

If a company is not asking for your impressions, that tells you everything.

Is There a Plastic Ridge at the Gumline?

Pick up any cheap snap-on set and look at where the teeth meet the gums.

You will see a thick, flat plastic edge sitting across the top like a ruler, identical from one tooth to the next. It looks like a mouthguard. That is the easiest tell. And it is the detail that makes most people stop wearing their set after a single day.

Real gumlines are not a straight line. Some teeth sit higher. Some sit lower. The tissue curves differently around each one. Your canines have a different gumline shape than your front teeth. When a set ignores all of that, it does not matter how the teeth look. The ridge gives it away.

Every Revive set has the gumline shaped to match your actual gums. The edge follows the natural curve of your tissue around each individual tooth. When someone looks at you, they see teeth. Not a ridge.

If your first impressions do not capture enough detail, we send a second kit at no charge before production starts.

Generic set

Every tooth the same. Flat plastic edge.

Revive

Gumline contoured to your anatomy, tooth by tooth.

That one detail, the gumline, is the difference between something you wear every day and something you hide in a drawer.

Construction is half of it. The other half is what it feels like to wear the finished set.

Are All the Teeth the Same?

Look in a mirror. Your teeth are not identical.

Your canines are a different shape from your front teeth. Your lateral incisors are narrower than your centrals. Even your two front teeth are not exactly the same, and they should not be. Light passes through the edges differently depending on thickness. The shade shifts subtly from tooth to tooth. There is an irregularity that your eye reads as real, even if you have never consciously noticed it.

Cheap sets ignore all of this. Every tooth the same shape, the same size, the same flat, opaque white. Piano keys. Nobody's real teeth look like that. And the moment you smile, every person you are talking to can tell, even if they cannot explain exactly why.

A set that looks natural needs three things working together: tooth-by-tooth proportions sized against each other the way I would do it in my practice, translucency at the edges the way real enamel behaves, and a shade matched to your complexion, not a color called "bright white."

What Revive does

Each tooth is individually sized and shaped against its neighbors using the same proportional standards applied in cosmetic dentistry. The edges are translucent, the way real enamel is. And the shade is matched to your complexion using the card in your kit, not chosen from a dropdown menu.

It is not one thing that makes a set look real. It is a lot of small things done right.

Who Checks It Before It Ships?

The 7-Point Smile Design Protocol

You send your impressions to a company. Someone makes the set. It ships. But what happened in between?

Who looked at it? Against what standard? Was there a standard at all?

Ask any company you are considering this question. If the answer is not specific, that is the answer.

I do not personally inspect each set. What I did is write the protocol the production team runs every single set through before it leaves, so nothing ships on one person's judgment alone.

If a set does not pass all seven, it does not ship.

The 7-Point Smile Design Protocol

01Smile mapping to your lip line and mouth width
02Bite alignment, so the set sits comfortably when you close your mouth
See all seven checkpoints
03Tooth-by-tooth proportions
04Gumline contoured to your anatomy
05Natural translucency at the edge
06Shade matched to your complexion
07Final inspection against your impressions

Seven checkpoints. Every set. No exceptions.

What Happens If It Is Wrong?

This is the check most people skip. It is also the one that tells you the most about the company behind the set.

Read the remake and refund policy before you pay anyone. Not after. Before.

Because this is where the real cost of a set shows up.

I have watched people spend months going back and forth with companies that make it nearly impossible to get a set fixed or a refund issued. That is not a policy. That is a trap.

Remakes

Fit, comfort, defect, or finish issue: tell us within 30 days of delivery. Up to two free remakes. Free shipping both ways. If a set does not fit, that is our problem to solve, not yours.

Cancellation and refunds

Cancel before we receive your impressions: full refund of the product price, minus $99 if the kit has already shipped. Once production starts, the order cannot be cancelled.

A set that ends up in a drawer helps no one. I would rather remake it twice and get it right than let you live with something that does not fit.

This Is What Changes

Lindsay smiling.

“I've never seen my teeth that straight. Is this a dream?”

Lindsay · Unscripted

You stopped smiling in photos years ago.

You started laughing with your hand over your mouth. You learned to angle your face, to avoid certain lighting, to sit in specific spots at dinner so nobody was looking at you from the wrong side.

You did not decide to do any of that. It just happened. Slowly. Until one day you realized you had been hiding for so long you forgot what it felt like not to.

That is what this set is for.

Not a Hollywood smile. Not something you are constantly aware of wearing. Just your teeth, the way you always wanted them to look.

Whether it is a job interview where you need to look like someone worth listening to. A wedding where you will actually want to be in the photos. A first date. A retirement dinner. Or just a Tuesday morning where you catch yourself in the mirror and do not look away.

This is about removing the one thing that sits between you and the version of yourself that does not think twice before smiling.

A laugh where your hand stays down. That is what this set is for.

Why Today

Your $300 code expires 7 days after it hits your inbox. After that, it is full price. No exceptions, no extensions.

But here is the real reason to stop waiting.

Every photo you skip is one you do not get back. Every conversation where you angle your face is a moment you are only half in. Every time you laugh with your hand over your mouth, you are rehearsing the same story, that this is just how it is now.

It does not have to be.

Your set is custom-made from your impressions and arrives in about three weeks. The sooner you order, the sooner you stop thinking about your teeth.
